The Practice
Many of us encounter times in our lives when we face challenges, transitions, or a profound loss and navigate through overwhelming feelings. In life, we may face systemic injustices that are difficult to change. Situations may arise when we need to make straightforward decisions, but we may find ourselves without a sense of direction.
Psychological counselling provides a nurturing and confidential environment where you can explore your experiences with professional support. Engaging in this process can lead to a more profound understanding of yourself and the situation you are facing, foster personal growth, generate the strength to face the system, and uncover paths to an authentic life.
Instead of providing direct advice, I will support you as you take the lead in finding your answers and insights.
For some, just a few sessions may feel sufficient while, for others, regular psychological counselling sessions over a longer period may be appropriate – we all have unique paths.
You might be seeking support regarding
- personal, familial, or professional relationship problems
- difficulties brought on by major transitions, such as moving between countries or cultures
- a challenging period in life, grappling with fears, sadness, doubts, bereavement, and anger
- difficult career decisions
The approach applied will be based on each individual client. My work, based on professional and academic studies and experience for the past 13 years, is grounded in psychological theories acknowledging multicultural aspects, enabling me to tailor psychological counselling and coaching to each client’s unique background and needs.
My clients typically have personal or professional experiences that span across cultures. I seek to attend to clients in a warm, sensitive, and responsive manner, enabling them to choose their path forward. I am passionate about creating a safe, non-judgemental space where clients can explore their experiences and supporting them to gain clarity in their thoughts, emotions and actions.
Please note: Psychological counselling, particularly online, cannot provide enough support in all cases. Some difficulties, particularly severe psychological crises and major mental disorders, necessitate in-person and ongoing contact with a qualified psychotherapist or psychiatrist in your country or location or, in urgent cases, your local emergency services.

About me
I am a UK-qualified counselling psychologist and multilingual counsellor, offering sessions in English and German, and conversant also in Turkish and French. My practice is rooted in social justice and an anti-racist ethos, welcoming individuals across adulthood and couples navigating life’s transitions and complexities.
As a counselling psychologist, I offer a holistic approach that acknowledges the interconnectedness of mental, emotional, physical, social, religious, and cultural influences on well-being. I work integratively and have provided cognitive behavioural therapy, psychodynamic and compassion-focused approaches across my work in both private practice and with the UK National Health Service. I have professionally supported humanitarian aid workers, refugees, patients diagnosed with cancer in inpatient and outpatient settings, and women and their families who have undergone traumatic experiences and/or loss in the perinatal phase.
As a certified professional coach, I offer frank questions and a constructive discussion on your goals and tools to achieve those. As an interfaith minister, I help couples meaningfully celebrate weddings and other ceremonies, provide sermons and spiritual consultation in group settings. My practice is inclusive and welcomes diversity.
To assist and develop my psychological counselling practice, I have regular supervision and attend workshops and training events throughout the year.

Testimonials
Rita P. (name protected) | Aid worker | 2018 | Myanmar
“I reached out to Ozgul after coming home from a mission and realizing that the feelings of stress and anxiety which I thought were job-related did not go away. I was feeling detached and unable to enjoy spending time with my family and friends. The first session with Ozgul felt like coming home. She has the ability to make you feel heard and accepted in all your fragility. Through our sessions, Ozgul made me aware of what are the things that are most important to me and how I can incorporate these values in my daily life. Furthermore, Ozgul has taught me how to listen to my inner voice, telling me what I need. This has been invaluable and has allowed me to live a more balanced life.”
Meera M. | Social Worker and Artist | 2016 | Seattle
“Working with Ozgul changed my life. She is perhaps the most open-minded, compassionate, and engaged person I have had the good fortune to know. She is an exceptional person and an incredible coach. Her methods both challenged me and nurtured me in such a way that I was able to discover my life path from a place of authenticity. She was attentive and fully present in each of our sessions. She always met me on my level, mentally and emotionally, and with kindness and compassion.
Working with Ozgul instilled in me confidence and trust that I could find my life’s direction and successfully pursue it. She helped me do this with her ability to listen deeply, by encouraging me to explore, and by holding me accountable for my goals. I came to know myself better than I ever have, and with that knowledge I was able to address the barriers I constructed within myself from a place of love and compassion. I was able to, step by step, meet myself, understand myself, love myself, and then move forward on the path to becoming who I want to be with confidence and joy, all thanks to Ozgul’s excellent guidance.
Ozgul also brought a bounty of creative ideas for ways to explore the inner-self and the potential paths forward. Her ideas challenged me and got me out of my comfort zone. The self-discovery and self-confidence that resulted is priceless. I could go on forever about Ozgul and what a fantastic coach she is, but to sum up, anyone who is willing to open their heart and mind to her and let her be a guide will no doubt feel as blessed as I do to have done so.”
May F. | Coach | 2017 | New York
“Ozgul was my coach when I was going through a profound transition. I was overwhelmed and overstressed by my job as a director of a non-profit. I felt unsure about my future personally and professionally. Ozgul was a warm, compassionate presence for me. She held space for ALL of my emotions — the anger, the love, the sadness, and the hope. She is incredibly imaginative, and helped me create a new vision for my future in a fun and creative way.
With Ozgul’s guidance, I felt more assured about my future than ever before. Ozgul helped me take risks and quickly change the trajectory of my career. I quickly left my job and became a full-time personal power and confidence coach for women. I did so with a full vision for my beautiful future — which includes my career, a family, and a home life I enjoy. I now feel excited for what the future brings and am ready to take more risks and make my vision a reality.”
Héber DM | Financial Consultant | 2017 | New York
“Ozgul was a fantastic coach. She was kind, caring and very open. Prior to working with her it had been very difficult for me to confront negative feelings, but with her guidance and encouragement, I was able to face those feelings without fear and to simply allow myself to experience them. This was a tremendous gift that has continued to impact me in important ways.”
